Description
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. is a Japanese multinational electronics manufacturing corporation headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Its products include calculators, mobile phones, digital cameras, electronic musical instruments, and analogue and digital watches.
Casio was founded by Tadao Kashio in 1946 as Kashio Seisakujo, a small electrical appliance workshop in Mitaka, Tokyo. The company’s first product was a prototype printing calculator, the 14-A, which was developed in 1949. The 14-A was not commercially successful, but it marked the beginning of Casio’s involvement in the calculator market.
In 1957, Casio introduced the first fully transistorized calculator, the 14-C. The 14-C was a commercial success, and it helped to establish Casio as a major player in the calculator market. The company continued to develop innovative calculators throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including the Pocketronic, the first pocket calculator, and the fx-82, the first scientific calculator.
In the 1980s, Casio began to expand into other electronic products, including digital watches, electronic musical instruments, and digital cameras. The company’s G-Shock watch, which was introduced in 1983, quickly became a global success. The G-Shock watch is known for its durability and its ability to withstand extreme conditions.
